Orange International Street Fair and Irvine Brew Festival….

Well, pictures from the OC Foodie Fest have been uploaded, just got get to posting them and writing up my story, for I’ll start off with a couple up coming events. First event is the Orange International Street Fair which starts this weekend from September 3rd -5th. If you’re an OC local, this event is a must go….Lots of food from different countries, drinks, music and plenty of fun activities to do. The next event is the following weekend on September 11th, is the OC Brew Festival aka Brew Ha Ha. If you’re a beer person, come check it out. With over 100 different beers from over 50 breweries, I’m sure there will be something for everyone. Most of the breweries are located locally like Taps Breweries, Oggi’s Breweries, BJ’s Breweries, Stone Breweries, and many others. I will definitely try to check this out since I’m a beer aficionado myself. There’s a link at the bottom to check buy tickets and find out more info.

OC Foodie Fest Pics coming soon, enjoy some mangos…..

Well, what can I say….OC Foodie Fest was awesome. I did show up a little late though, around 3pm to be exact. So I was only able to hit up about 6 or 7 trucks. I’ll definitely be hitting up the next one earlier. The weather was just perfect today, not too hot, nice little breeze, and awesome food EVERYWHERE. Once I get the pictures uploaded, I’ll have them up. For now, enjoy a couple of pictures of some desert I made……Mango with Coconut Sticky Rice….

OC Foodie Fest……

If you’re not doing anything this coming Saturday, August 28th, come out to the Honda Center in the city of Anaheim for the OC Foodie Fest. This will be Orange Counties first food truck event. YES I did say food trucks. This event will be catered by some of Southern California’s popular mobile eateries; including White Rabbit, Fishlips Sushi, etc. The event starts at 11:30 AM and ends at 7:00 PM and is a one day only event. OC Foodie Fest is very similar to the LA Street Food Festival. Pre-Sale admission starts at only $12 for adults and children under 12 for $6, under 3 and they are FREE. Check out their site to see a complete list of participating trucks. Come check it out, look for me if you want because I will probably be there!! “Bon Appetit”

Morel Mushrooms, cooked in some special dish…..couldn’t believe the price of these things. $100 per pound. They’ve got a great taste, almost like truffles….This dish was cooked with onions and tomatoes which brings out the flavor. I guess it’s a special mushroom that only grows in fire burnt areas on the west coast. Sorry for the horible picture. Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless handheld

Quick n’ Easy Seafood Ramen…..

Well, figured it’s been a while since I posted up a how-to, I’ll start off with something fairly simple and easy. Heres a little how-to on cooking Seafood Ramen. Its simple, delicious, and great on a cold day or just when your hungry.  With prep time and cooking time, this should take about 15-20 minutes. It’s great for a quick meal when you’re in a hurry, or just tired from work. I apologize from the beginning for the lack of better pictures since they were shot with my blackberry phone. I’ll start off with the ingredients.

1 Package of pre-cooked ramen noodles

1 Package of Shelled/Deveined  Shrimp

1 Package of Imitation Crab Mix

1 Fish Cake Roll

1 Egg

3 Tblsp of Garlic Powder

1 Tblspn of Black Pepper

2 Tblspn of Siracha Chili

4 Tblspn of Maggi Sauce

1 Tblspn of Salt/Soy Sauce/Fish Sauce

First off, you don’t need to use the whole package, however I find it a little more budget friendly buying a whole package. So lets start this off by combining the shrimp and crab meat into a bowl. You can use however much you want of each meat. I went with a hand full of crab meat and about 12 shrimp. Remember to wash them first.

Next off, add the garlic powder, black pepper, siracha chili into the shrimp and crab mix. You can stir the mixture together with a spoon or by hand to get the flavor really into the meat. With that done, your mixture should look something like this.

Also, notice I did not add the fish cake. I do this because fish cake has its own unique flavor that I like to preserve and let it just soak up the soup with. Take about 1/3 of the roll and slice them up to pieces.

Now to the cooking part, spray a small pot with pam, or lightly coat the pot with a little bit of corn or soy oil. Let that heat up real quick and toss in the shrimp and crab meat. Remember, shrimp cooks fairly fast. You’ll know when it’s cooked when the shrimp plumps up just a bit and gets a bit of that orange/red color. They will curl up fast. Cook them for about 4 minutes at med to high heat.

Once your done, remove the shrimp and put them aside in another bowl. You will use this again after.

You’ll notice leftover “stock” from the meat mixture. Add water to about 3/4 of the pot and let water boil as you stir the mixture. The “soup” should be a reddish color. You may add more Siracha chili if you like it a little spicier like me. Now add the salt to the soup and continue to stir while it boils. Add the ramen noodles into the soup along with the fish cake.Now add one egg on top of the ramen and let it cook until you see it turning white a little. By then, break the yolk and continue to stir the ramen and soup together. Now take that bowl of crab and shrimp mixture and put it into the soup. Continue to stir the ramen with the meat. You can add another tablespoon of fish sauce or soy sauce at this point.

And the final product…….voila! Quick, Easy, and Delicious…..until next time fellow foodies, “Bon Appetit”

Fullerton Restaurant Week……

What, can this be? An update? Anyways guys, here goes, Fullerton Restaurant Week started this past Sunday. Yes I’m a couple days late, but I just saw this the other day on my friends Facebook. Besides, there’s still another 4 days. Fullerton Restaurant Week runs from August 1st until August 7th and  should be a great one since there are great restaurants in the area. With over 30 participating restaurants of different varieties, your taste buds will have a blast trying all the different places. Some of my favorites in the area are Cafe Hidalgo, Thai Basil, Roscoe’s Deli, Summit House, and I just might hit them up. Come enjoy some of North Orange Counties finest dining. So come out, bring your friends, enjoy your meal and “Bon Appetit”
